First stop: Memphis

The Lucas family is taking a month long road trip across the US. We rented an RV and set out looking for fun adventure. We’re hitting a bunch of state and national parks along the way.

Our first stop is the Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park in Memphis, Tennessee. Our journey from Atlanta, Georgia took us through 4 states on our first day.

This is our first time RVing and driving this big camper was a bit nerve racking at first but Cory got the hang of it and Christy got over being scared by all the shaking.

We started the day with a stop at our local Waffle House. It seemed like an appropriate place to kick off our trip.

We made stops at the welcome centers for Alabama and Mississippi (We skipped Tennessee since it was getting late) with a lunch break at a Cracker Barrel about half way in between.

We arrived at Meeman-Shelby State Park around 7 and setup camp. Cory and the kids explored the campgrounds while Christy prepped a quick dinner. After we ate we watched movie in the camper and then hit the sack. It was a successful first day!

Our drive from Memphis was relatively short, so we spent the morning exploring the Meeman-Shelby State Park. We packed up our site first thing, ad then drove the RV to Piersol Lake, which is inside the park. We rented a paddle boat and drove around the lake for a bit (mostly until Cory and Christy were exhausted) and then played on the playground for a bit. After that we hit the road on the way to Hot Springs, Arkansas.
